The Big 6-0-0

This is my 600th post. I've been scared of it. My reasons why are probably a bit lame. I kept thinking that I needed something "blog-worthy" to post about or a giveaway in honor of 100 followers, nearly 300 subscribers in Reader and 600 posts (make that 99-- I lost one last week). Last night I started thinking about it a little more. No one comes here for the giveaways. Sure, it's fun for all of us when I have one, but that's not why people stop by.

So, I decided to just write a normal post about a song that has been on repeat for me lately. Sometimes we all need a little music in our lives.

Making Me Smile

This song has been making me smile lately. I think it would be cute to walk down the aisle to it (for an informal ceremony).

The Same... but Better

I don't watch American Idol. Honestly, I just don't watch much reality tv. I couldn't help but post this video a friend sent me of Andrew Garcia singing Paula Abdul's Straight Up. Awesomeness.

Christmas Cheer #3

Every time she gets to the "and you, and you, and you" part, I can just picture the little guy's face! Love this movie.

More Christmas Cheer

I've decided I'm going to post a song a day until Christmas. Just to get us all in the spirit over the next TEN days. That's right... only 10 left!!

Love this spin on a classic...

Christmas Music in the Air

For the past week, I've been listening to Christmas music on headphones at work. Something about it makes my day go by so much faster. The song that's been running through my head nonstop is one that I became familiar with during my Gap days in college. It has me bobbing my head.

Another Christmas song that has me singing along...

There's always the old classic that I used to listen to on record.

This remix of a classic has me giggling every time I hear it.

What fun Christmas songs get you moving?

Music to My Ears

Ever since Mara posted this, I've been going back for more time and time again. I love this version... and can not seem to stop belting it out at the top of my lungs.

Have you found any amazing songs that are even more wonderful live? Share!

All You Need is Love

How long of a song do you need for a processional with 4 bridesmaids, the flower girls and the bride? I was wanting the instrumental version from Vitamin String Quartet, but I'm loving this version too... it almost sounds like a choir. What do you think?

Zooey Deschanel

It's true. I have a girl crush. I've seen Zooey Deschanel in a few movies, including Failure to Launch. I love her quirky style and attitude.

I got sucked into the Christmas movie cycle yesterday. When I saw that Elf was on, I immediately thought, "Oh, I hope I haven't missed the singing in the shower part." If you've seen the movie, then you know what I'm talking about. Zooey's voice freakin' rocks. I'm jealous. The scene is too funny (how could it not be with Will Ferrell). I was jazzed when I realized I came into the movie just five minutes prior to that scene.

So, today, I decided to browse YouTube for Zooey's band She & Him. Love this song! Possible first dance song? It's a thought...

Possible First Dance Song Part Deux

J just laughed when I played this one for him, but I thought it was fun. You can laugh if you want, but I love it. I could even wear my boots! (Like I need an excuse... it's almost a given!) We love dancing at this pace, so we could do some major damage on the dance floor. It would definitely get the party started!

So... be honest!

Possible First Dance Song

Jen at Green Wedding Shoes posted this song on her site. I listened to it and immediately thought "first dance!" We kind of want something upbeat (as opposed to a traditional slow dance), so I think this one would be great.

Ray LaMontagne: You Are the Best Thing

Tell me what you think... and offer up some other nontraditional songs if you think of any! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
