This is probably the only time I'll get political on this blog, and I'm not even going there. This post is just a friendly reminder that your vote counts.
Many people are being turned away from early polling sites in Colorado because their names were not found on the registered voters list... some even had the registration mailer that was sent! The Denver news channels have been all over it.
Two years ago, I waited in line for 5 hours to vote, but I stuck with it. As of today, our ballots should have arrived safely in the county courthouse. I am so thankful that I registered for a mail-in ballot this year!

The First Scolding...
I am always amazed about what J gets worked up about. The story of the first scolding...
I got up this morning, put my ring over the finial of my jewelry keeper and jumped in the shower. After putting on lotion, I got dressed. J turned around while in the closet and said, "So... are you just going to go without your ring willy-nilly. I'm just wondering..."
HA! I couldn't believe it. I hadn't yet put my ring back on and hadn't thought a thing about it. Apparently, J didn't approve!
After telling the story to my girlfriend, I got a second scolding. Am I the only one who takes their ring off when showering... or washing my hands?

Weight Watchers Update
When I weighed in on Monday, I was so happy to see I lost the exact amount I gained last week. I am officially back to eleven pounds down. Woo-hoo! Now, if I can make it through today's Halloween party at work and the one at Molly's on Friday, then I'll be good.

Layered Mexican Chicken
Ingredients:
- 1 spray(s) olive oil cooking spray
- 2 pound(s) uncooked boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 30 oz canned black beans, rinsed and drained
- 3 cup(s) fat-free sour cream
- 2 cup(s) shredded reduced-fat Mexican-style cheese, divided
- 8 oz chopped green chilies, two 4-oz cans
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 12 medium corn tortilla(s), cut into 2-inch strips
- 1 cup(s) salsa, mild, medium or hot
- Preheat oven to 350ºF. Coat a lasagna pan with cooking spray.
- Place chicken in medium saucepan and fill with enough cold water just to cover chicken. Set pan over high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until chicken is cooked through, about 10 to 15 minutes; drain. When chicken is cool enough to handle, cut into 1-inch pieces.
- Transfer chicken to a large bowl and add beans, sour cream, 1 cup of shredded cheese, chilies, cumin, and pepper; mix well and set aside.
- Arrange half of tortillas in bottom of prepared lasagna pan, overlapping pieces to cover surface. Top tortillas with half of chicken mixture, layer with remaining tortillas and then top with remaining chicken mixture. Sprinkle with remaining cup of cheese.
- Bake until filling is bubbly and cheese is melted, about 30 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing into 12 pieces. Serve with salsa on the side

You know I've got to love a wedding with cowboy boots! I am seriously debating sporting some for a few pics. This wedding featured on Southern Weddings looks too fun.

Third, I got some funny looks from friends that knew it was me, but I also got lots of compliments on the bob. All in a day's work, I say...

To E-Pic or Not to E-Pic
We met with our potential (almost guaranteed) photographer after work last night. Part of her package includes an engagement shoot.
J is adamant that he does not want this part of the package. I have never seen him so adamant before. We have seen a lot of e-pics in the past two years, as many of our friends are now married. Every time we see some, he has pointed out how awkward our friends look and that you don't need a ton of pics of you in your regular clothes (*none of these pics were taken by our potential photographer). I get his reasoning to a point, but I also thought it would be nice to have a couple of pictures of us that don't involve one of us holding the camera or hiding a beverage out of view. ;)
The photographer said that she could extend the shoot time of the reception past the guaranteed two hours if we don't go with the e-shoot. J said that he thought it would be much more worth the money to have pictures of us enjoying our time with friends and family. So, I caved. I did manage to get him to agree to let a friend take a couple of pictures of us in cute clothes at another time, though.
A couple of questions for you married ladies: Did you have an engagement shoot? How much time did you allot between ceremony and reception for picture taking? How long did your photographer stay during the reception? We were having such a time of it last night trying to get the timing down that I thought I would put these questions to you for help!

Speaking of Quirkiness
I now have proof of quirkiness #1:
I even organize the ornaments by color. This picture was taken about 5 minutes ago, as I was loading our storage unit junk into my car to take home. We rented a storage unit when we listed our place and decided $600 was the limit for us, so we're bringing it all back home.
Just to show you how nutty I really am... Here's a picture of the trashed table I salvaged from next to the dumpster at the storage unit.
It was so freakin' heavy that I had to drag it to the unit and leave it there, instead of putting it in my car. I thought that maybe I could use it in the office area to hold the printer... and it's free! All it needs is a bit of paint, and maybe some elbow grease. J's going to be thrilled, or not so much.

I've Been Tagged!
Tara tagged me on Sunday night. I've been in a bit of a funk, so I'm just now getting around to posting. Here goes!
1. When decorating for Christmas, I only decorate the tree tonally.... as in reds only, greens only, blues only, neutral only, etc-- and I only use white lights. I don't use the same colors two years in a row, and the tree skirt always follows the color scheme. I know, I know... weirdo. (I do have some ornaments that make it in every year, like the Christmas pickle, for instance.)
2. After a light workout (only around 30 minutes), I don't wash my socks. Instead, I switch them to the opposite foot for the next workout. I have no idea why I do this because I own enough socks to wear a different pair every day. I do have the advantage of working for a sock company.
3. I was over cheerleading for a bit, so I was mascot for a year. I was the panther and loved every minute of it. At some point, maybe I'll scan in a picture as proof.
4. I am always super hot and can't sleep if it's above 60 degrees. BUT... my feet are always freezing. J will always snuggle up because he's freezing, until I get too hot and stick my frigid tootsies on him so he moves. He loathes that.
5. I have never had coffee before... ever. For J's birthday one year, I bought us a coffee maker and then found out that he likes the crappy coffee from the gas station best.
6. I own enough wrapping paper, tissue paper, gift bags, scrapbooking supplies, etc. to last me four lifetimes. Again, I will post a picture as proof at a later date. Do I smell an eBay listing in the works?

Bridesmaid Dress Saga is Over
I am happy, no, ecstatic to report that the bridesmaid dress saga is over. (Or at least as far as I'm concerned!) My step-sister's dress has arrived and fits! Without further ado:

A Case of the Mondays
I apologize for not posting over the weekend. I had a bit of a headache all week, played the DD role for our friend's 40th birthday bash, and then spent all day Sunday cleaning and de-stashing my magazines. Basically, that consisted of me going through all of my mags once again, pulling out the pages I wanted to keep, and then organizing them. It definitely gets worse before it gets better.
I took some funny pics at the 70's themed birthday shindig that I will be posting at some point this week. But, other than that, I can't think of a thing to post about. Maybe I'll stumble upon something later today. Oh... Tara tagged me last night, so I'll make sure to post my responses. It's a tag I've already had, but immediately after writing the last one, I came up with so many more things to say. Probably not something to brag about... I have a case of the Mondays. Sorry folks.

Wedding Jewelry: The Necklace
When I was home in August to meet my new niece, I stumbled upon some amazing earrings by Kendra Scott. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of them right now, so I'll have to post more about those later. The thing about these earrings was that I couldn't figure out what necklace I would pair with them. I know... I don't have to wear a necklace, but I don't think I want to go bare.
Today, I happened upon this beauty by Azaara and think it would perfect. I figure, if it doesn't work with the earrings, then I would wear it with my every day garb anyway.
What do you think? Is it weird for me to wear gold jewelry, when my rings will be white gold? Surely not...

I think I've shown you enough cowboy boots for a while, so how about more Anthropologie gear? I know... I just can't help myself. There are too many amazing shoes.
I didn't think I was into booties. With my height, I often have trouble with tall boots being too tall, so I am definitely warming up to the trend.
