Things I Love Today: Home

I haven't been finding as much clothing that I "can't live without", so I thought I should post about the things I'm loving that are home-related.

On Sale at Pottery Barn Cafe Chairs
Another PB Sale Item: Somerset Striped Cabinet (I see this in a baby's room, for some reason)

PB: Aberdeen Pendant (Another perfect baby room find... if I were with child, which I'm not)

PB: Hayden Rug (I already have a PB rug in the living room, but it's not bright and bold enough)
PB: Tile Organic Sheets

PB: Pinboard Scrapbook
PB: Raindrop Mirror

Garnet Hill: Angelique Woven Rug (Yes, another rug)
GH: Fisherman Cable Throw

GH: Balen Cotton Coverlet (for one of the guest rooms)
GH: Haverhill Afghan Throw (Reminds me of the ones Grandma Pauline used to make)
Anthropologie: Astrid Chair (I almost bought this when they offered a discount two years ago)
Anthropologie: Corrigan Chair

Okay... enough for now. My bank account is reeling at the idea of purchasing all of these wonderful items.

By the way... this is my 50th post already! I've definitely had too much time on my hands.

Things I Love Today

I just can't enough of headbands... or feathers, for that matter. I stumbled upon CharmSchoolDesign on one of my strolls through the wonderful world of Etsy. If you have any kind of headband fetish, you'll definitely fall for their designs. Check these out:

Can you tell I'm not ready for fall?

This last pair reminds me of the amazing yellow shoes that Chelsea from Oh My Deer wore for her wedding.

Wedding Weekend Number Three

Today is the first day of wedding weekend number three. Tonight is Jen's rehearsal dinner, with her wedding tomorrow. I'm praying that my Weight Watchers willpower hangs in there! I promise to post some lovely pictures after the madness ends.

Have a wonderful weekend!

My Latest Invitation Craze

Lately, I've been drawn to invitations that seem to evoke a calligraphy vibe, even if they're not hand-written. While I love calligraphy, it's just not in the budget. So, this is the next best thing, right? Here are a few of my favorites:

Dear Emma: Calligraphy Bird
SouthernWeddings: Real Wedding (created by Pendragon)
Darling Dexter: Her own design
Ephemera: Chartreuse Flourish
Bella Figura: Modern Calligraphy
What do you think... is it as good as the real thing?

NieNie Day

For those of you who have not read all of the blogs discussing NieNie Day, I wanted to clue you in. A fellow blogger, Stephanie, and her husband, Christian, were in a terrible plane crash that has left them with severe burns. They have four beautiful children and need everyone's help in getting them back on their feet, so to speak, once they are out of the hospital. Please see DesignMom's blog for a list of all of the silent auctions that are taking place this weekend to benefit this amazing family. I'm already up to my eyeballs in wonderful bidding!

The Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth... Sort Of

Remember this post about my winnings from blog-stalking? I'm planning on giving this amazing card to my friend, Molly, and I promised to tell you why... stick with me here:

I've struggled with my self-image for about a year now. My main problem was that I had gone through changes in my job and living situation over the past few years and had kind of not looked out for "me"... everything else came first. When I moved to CO seven years ago, I was a runner. I ran to keep myself sane, but I had been able to do it year-round in AR. I wasn't able to do that in my new community unless I wanted to break my leg running on ice or face the crowded gym in hopes that there was an opening on the treadmill (never happens, by the way). I went through a kick where I went to the gym, took classes, and looked like it. Then, the job change happened. So... I stopped. I spent more time behind my desk and not taking lunch breaks. All of a sudden, I woke up one morning and realized I had completely let myself go-- I mean 20 extra pounds on my petite, not quite 5'1" frame! Where did this roll come from... and that one? Why are my clothes so dang tight?! I had never had to worry about what I ate before... probably because I had been exercising... so this really threw me for a loop. (I know... waaa, waaa, waaa.)

One day in July, I was getting my hair cut by my friend, Molly, whose wedding is coming up next month. We were talking about how we had just realized how much our inactivity had affected us. She confided in me that she had joined Weight Watchers a couple of weeks prior and mentioned they have weekly meetings every Monday. I told her that I just might go. (Apparently, she had gone because a friend had wanted to go, but the girl never showed up... so her faith in me showing up was little to none). That following Monday, I actually showed up. I couldn't believe it myself, to be honest. For some reason, I was a bit weirded out at first. Because I'm petite and not overweight by any means, I was worried about how I would be perceived. I didn't tell anyone I was going... not even J (more on that later in the post). That Monday was July 21st. Five weeks later, I've lost 7.4 lbs! It's not a diet so much, as a change in the way I view food. I am super excited that I made the decision to go.

I did eventually tell J that I was going to WW. You may wonder why I waited. Personally, I wanted to convince myself that I was actually going to stick with the plan and see results before I mentioned anything to anyone, including J. After four weeks on the program, I decided to tell him. He was extremely supportive... and then admitted that Molly's fiance' had spilled the beans after the first meeting! He understood that I needed to prove to myself that I was going to make progress and didn't get upset that I hadn't told him. I explained the program to him, so he's now able to be more understanding of my dietary decisions.

When I attended my first meeting, I did get a little flack from an acquaintance that was already on the program. She didn't say anything at the actual meeting. Instead, she decided to confront me at the grocery store afterward. I was pumped because I had just made the decision to tackle my eating head on, so I was extremely taken off-guard when this girl approached me. I left the grocery store and immediately called Molly (practically in tears, mind you) for support. The girls has only been to one meeting since that evening, and I know that it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm attending. I'm convinced that some people will take their frustrations out on others instead of dealing with their own issues, but the situation still bothered me. Either way, I know that I've made the right decision for me, no matter how other people feel about it.

I've had a few friends make comments about how I look just fine and think it's stupid for me to join the program. They don't seem to realize that I'm finally doing something for me and don't really care if they're on-board. The one friend that I've been able to count on for support through the process has been Molly. We email and text each other when we go over my a million points, share great recipes and high-five each other with each pound we shed. We are each other's cheerleaders. I even made a stink this week when they forgot to acknowledge her 10 pound over-all loss so far. (That's a big freakin' deal!!)

So... that was the long story about why I'm giving Molly the funniest card ever. I hope you hung in there! I will be posting progress and recipe ratings in the future. Stay tuned!

Wedding Wednesday Continues

I've mentioned before that I have a penchant for hairpieces of all kinds. I found yet another Etsy seller that had some amazing combs and "tiaras". Take a look at what I just bought from Bel Canto Designs...
I couldn't resist the blue and green colors and will probably wear these on my wedding day. SCORE!!

Blog Spotlight

One of my favorite must-read blogs is A Cup of JO. The blog's author, Joanna Goddard, announced recently that she will now be writing a blog for Glamour magazine. How exciting is that? Well... the new blog is up. Go check it out!

Wedding Wednesday Continues:Bridesmaid Gift

If you're interested in going a bit green with your bridesmaid gifts, you should check out the new tanks that Once Wed is offering for your bridal party. They are very cute... and organic!

They even have a funny tank for the bride that says, "It's All About Me". J would kill me if I wore that, though!

Wedding Wednesday Continues

Here are a few pics that I've been drooling over lately. Enjoy!
These first three pics are of Tec & Chelsea's wedding found via the Once Wed blog. Chelsea is the brains behind the Oh My Deer blog. I've been finding lots of eye candy on these two blogs lately.

Budget Savvy Bride posted a great idea for Save The Dates. Check it out here.

This last picture was also found via the Once Wed blog-- I told you there was eye candy! The pic was taken by Jonathan Canlas. I'm loving the rad tattoos all the girls are sporting.... that, and of course, the green!

Too Much Information Once Again

Being sick is never fun. But, having the right tools to get you back on track definitely helps. To keep myself from getting a full blown sinus infection (according to my doctor, I wasn't quite there yet), I have been using the following:

My ceramic Neti Pot-- some people use plastic, but I prefer being able to throw mine in the dishwasher with no problems.
Emergen-C-- I don't like taking pills, so this is a better option for me.

Nasonex-- After I've used the Neti Pot, I use this. (*Quick reminder-- I am not a doctor, so get accurate advice from your GP.)

Mucinex--To avoid having this crud move into my chest, I take this.
**Disclaimer--I am not a physician/doctor of any kind and am only showing what I take. Please see a licensed physician for diagnosis and remedy.

Wedding Wednesday

This wedding found via Carrie Patterson Photography caught my eye. The fact that it's a mountain wedding might have something to do with it... or maybe it's the bride's Vera Wang dress. Gorgeous! Check out Carrie Patterson Photography for more pics of weddings she's shot.

Love the unique cake.

Look at the stylish dresses the moms are sporting.

I'm loving the reception site. We've definitely thought of using a lodge or barn, but in Steamboat, they all seem to charge more than our budget will allow.

MIA

I apologize for being a bit MIA for the past couple of days. I have been feeling a bit (more like a lot) under the weather. It all started to go downhill when I woke up with a little sore throat Saturday. I wrote it off as not too big of a deal. By yesterday, I had a full-blown sore throat, and my head felt like it's insides were going to push my face off. Pleasant. Unfortunately, I'm dog-sitting right now, so I didn't have my arsenal of drugs at hand. (Yes, I have yet another side job.) I slept very little last night and felt absolutely miserable this morning. I called in sick via voicemail at 6 a.m. If you know me, then you know it takes a lot for me to call in sick. I went to the doctor and got some meds, so hopefully I'll be back in tip-top shape soon.

Sick on my birthday... definitely not my idea of fun!

You Say It's Your Birthday...

It's my birthday, too! Well, it is on Monday, but it doesn't hurt to do a little pre-birthday window shopping. Here are a few on my wish list...
Let's start with the extravagant, shall we?
Obviously those are more like house picks, so I'll also list the personal (and more realistic) options. I've actually had this first one in my bag for a long while now.
